So my friend Clay suggested that for our friends wedding we should take photos of all the guests wearing the same glasses (that belonged to his friend Jake Szuminski). So at the wedding we borrowed Stevens camera (because I was taking wedding photos with mine) and I set up a portrait studio in a small cabin and in the reception hall the next day. Clay, Gordon, and myself took shifts taking photos and in the end managed to photograph 116 people. Yesterday Clay and I (with help from my girlfriend, Katherine) framed most of the shots and presented them to Alnis and Brooke. They were happy and so were we. I think Alnis is going to put all these up on facebook, but I thought I may as well put them up here too. Click Here to see the whole set.
Was sent out this morning to photograph a property for a client at work. They are developers and we are building the website for the development. Anyhow we needed some images so we went to take some photos. There is a really cool observatory on the property. This is Kaminski the designer who is building the site. I thought this was a cool portrait because all last week he was working on the logo for the development which has the observatory as a centre piece and I feel like I inserted him into his own work. Most of the time he works on a whole project without leaving the office. I don’t know if most of you will appreciate that point of view but it means a lot to me. Here are a few frames of what I shot today.
I’m editing the wedding photos I shot a few weeks ago. I thought I’d share some of the shots from the party the night before. I have a lot to get through.
I was doing a job for work on friday, I had to photograph a house for a kitchen place, they designed the kitchen. This was an average day until the sky went black and hail fell from it. In other news I photographed a wedding for some friends of mine recently. It was my first time doing this, I’ll have to share some of the highlights when I get a chance.
This is one hell of a post. Lets call this the post of film lost. Long story short, I found a bunch of old film and processed it and a lot of it is old and looks bad and some is rather new. How old you ask, well shots from Macau last summer at this time, 120 medium format stuff from montreal this winter with my TLR. The new stuff is from my trip recently to Boston and Maine. There are also some shots that Katherine took of me kiteboarding. A real mixed bag of images here, most are crap.
In other news, I’ve upgraded my blog here so it’s easier to navigate (It has tags now!) I’ve also become completely obsessed with cycling and I wear the spandex and the cleats and everything, so I don’t take transit street photos anymore because well, I don’t take transit. Those of you thinking I am the next Lance Armstrong are absolutely right.
Before I get into my regular blog spiel I had something interesting happen. My girlfriend was borrowing my bike (her new bike, as I just got a new one) last monday and she rode it to school. Well when she got out class guess what, no bike! All that was left was a snipped lock on the ring post where the bike used to sit. She was upset but I told her not to worry it’s just a bike (I’m such a great boyfriend). Anyhow I thought well maybe I’ll report it to the police but that will almost certainly be fruitless. A few days pass and I am forwarded an article about an infamous bike thief ring leader who sells like all the stolen bikes in the city. Turns out he got busted paying some thieves to steal a bike. So today we were coming back from a wedding in london and decided to stop into the warehouse where they were displaying all the stolen bikes that were seized, there were about 200+ bikes there, and one of them was mine! I couldn’t believe it, after a bunch of paperwork and showing some photo print outs of the bike, the finally gave it to me. Katherine road it home very excited as it fits much better than the bike I got to replace the stolen one.
So now for the spiel. this past Wednesday I stopped at my friend Brett’s place and we did a little bit of video recording of him and Scribbons playing some blues music. Check it out!
Some random stuff from the last while. I just got back from the states, boston/maine have a bunch of film to process. click on thumbnail to open gallery.
So I processed an old roll of film last night. I didn’t do a very good job. I think I’m just going to bring all my film to the lab from now on. They do a fine job and don’t charge more for push or pull processing and I think it will encourage me to shoot more because unprocessed film wont be piling up on my desk.
These are just some random shots. There is a shot of a dump truck that looks rather tilt shift which I can’t really explain. Interesting though. As usual click on the image to enter gallery.
So I still haven’t processed that black and white film. Maybe I’ll do it tonight…
I was taking some shots for a gym today and had a portrait here I thought I would post. I’m interested in what you, the 2 readers of my blog (and my mom) think of the colour here. I have some exceptionally bad monitors here at work that aren’t well calibrated. This work is all for the web but I’m just curious.
Disconcerting, it looks darker on this monitor than the one to my left. Welcome to the world of digital photography, where consistency is a thing of the past.
So it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything here. I’ve still been shooting I have simply not had time to post here or process any film. I’m going to process some film tomorrow (that’s the plan) so I thought before that I would post a bunch of my digital stuff.
These shots are from all over the map.
I’ve been taking a lot of shots for peoples web sites at work recently. I’ve also been snapping the odd shot of co-workers. There was a house warming party here a few weeks ago. I took some shots of my friends sisters baby last week. That was a new experience but a lot of fun.
In other news Katherine (My lovely girlfriend) and I recently got a car. We found it on leasebusters.com and it’s a nice 2004 volkswagen golf. We had to go up to Ottawa to get it. We will have it until december so we’re planning some road trips for the summer. There are some shots here from Ottawa the morning before getting the car, then the drive back, the countryside. Then the next day Graham Beasley and I went to London for mothers day and shot some 16mm film of cows. Very exciting stuff. Anyhow there are a couple shots graham took of me and the car.
As usual click on the image to check out the gallery.
